Reasons why people are judging you on a daily basis

| Anoushka Thapliyal

The millenials like to say the world is a doomed and dark place. I agree, it is. But, what makes it worse is the daily judgement you face by your spouse, friends, peers or mere acquaintances.

It’s saddening how blissfully unaware you are of the things that have been said behind your back.

Don’t worry, this is not a hate blog. Infact, i’m going to help you with your first impression persona.

What even is first impression persona? Some fancy word? Yes well it’s that, and how people perceive you the first time they see you. At every social encounter, you can count on gears grinding in people’s shallow brains with incessant judgement. All while you sweat to make a good impression.

But why are they judging you? And where are you going wrong?

There can be a lot of reasons why you’re being judged. Some reasons could be understandable but some could be just because the other person is a big snob. There i can’t help you, but for the first one i can surely try.

Obvious but worth mentioning. The wealthy snobs i was talking about previously, sure as hell would like critique your overall look. Now it’s not necessary you shop Gucci, but affordable good brands can help you uplift your overall style.

I always say, It’s not the quantity but the quality that matters. So it’s better to buy a couple of expensive quality pieces than multiple pieces of trash that will lose their look after a couple of washes.

Same goes for the shoes. You can tell a lot about a man by looking at his shoes. A nice pair will surely make people give you a fair chance and help you score the ladies alongside.

Sense of Humor

Sense of Humor

A funny man is a charming man. I have often been attracted to well dressed men, but immediately taken that attraction back, as soon as they’ve opened their mouths. If you can’t charm your audience with your clothes, floor them with your words.

No matter the company, people always appreciate a good sense of humor. Although, it’s better advised to read the crowd before you start cracking jokes.

Lack of social awareness

Lack of social awareness

Parties and gatherings can become a bit difficult if you’re standing in the middle of a crowd that’s discussing a social or current issue and you lack an opinion on it.

No matter what the discussion, people will always value you ideas. But, it can work against you if you are devoid of any.

Today’s generation calls themselves sapiosexual i.e. they’re attracted to someone’s intelligence. I don’t know about them but an un-opinionated mind can be a turn off for so many ladies.

It’s best to stay up-to-date with reading newspapers (yes people still read them) and watching news. Reading current bestselling books can also help you become more socially verbose.

Body language

Body language

Your stance is what a person observes when they see you for the first time. Are you standing tall? Or is there a slouch? Do you make eye contact? Or avert your eyes often? Do you sit straight? Or relaxed? Do you initiate a handshake/ greeting? Or do wait for someone else to initiate it?

People notice everything. Whenever you’re trying to make a lasting impression, it’s better to stand and sit straight, speak slowly with proper enunciation.

Always be humble and ready to initiate a greeting. Even if people don’t like you, your politeness will rub off on them and they’ll be nicer to you.

When addressing a crowd, make eye contact with everybody for a couple of seconds to make them feel included. Another thing to remember is, sometimes it doesn’t matter what you say but how you say it.

Conservative notions

Conservative notions

The liberal world is ever evolving form the old narrow chauvinistic norms. If you aren’t evolving with it, then it’s your loss.

In a world where anything and everything is possible, prehistoric opinions have no room.

If you don’t believe women deserve as much respect and regard in the world as men, then you’re immediately deemed unworthy in several eyes. Women and liberal men find misogyny very dated and would like to wash their hands off it.

What i would advice is to be open to new ideas, opinions and regard them with as much respect as you would your own.

Every individual deserves thoughtfulness no matter what caste, creed, gender, race, color they belong to. If you believe in equality then people will believe in you.

Remember, a little goes a long way. With these minimal steps you’ll come off as charming as ever. Andrew Grant rightly said, “You never get a second chance to make a first impression”. Don’t let it go to waste.
